Elders/Shepherds
These men are the designated shepherds of the church at Third and Kilgore. The Bible lays out instructions regarding the quality and type of leaders that each local congregation should strive for. Their character reflects spiritual maturity and moral uprightness through their Christian walk as husbands and fathers. Their responsibility is to “shepherd the flock of God” (1 Peter 5:1-3) and “keep watch” (Hebrews 13:17) over the local church members. The designation of “elder” (1 Peter 5:1) is also synonymous with other descriptions in the Bible such as: “pastor” (Ephesians 4:11), “Shepherd” (1 Peter 5:2), “Overseer” or “Bishop” (Acts 20:28; 1 Tim 3:1).
